Fitness activities for the entire family can be found in Baytown Texas at TKS Martial Arts. Children as young as 3 can partake in the Little Ninja Karate classes, and there are classes for all age groups and belt colors.
Everyone can benefit from the physical activity, increased self control and self discipline required to partake in a martial arts program. Martial Arts training done with other like-minded individuals creates a kinship and a bond that you don't find in just any sport or gym setting. You and your family can grow physically, psychologically and develop your self confidence while you increase your knowledge of the martial arts moves and philosophies.
The knowledgeable instructors at TKS have a teaching style that instills discipline, but still allows for enjoyment and fun in learning the martial arts. As an integral part of teaching the children martial arts, discipline, good behavior and manners are strongly stressed. REspect for fellow classmates and instructor are required and also respect for the authority of the parent while in the home environment. Pupils are expected to have a part in keeping their home clean and also keep themselves bathed and groomed. Regularly studying and achieving good grades in school is a expected as well. Parents are asked for their input regarding the childs behavior out of class when it is time for advancement. You have input on what behaviors and characteristics you want you child to work on improving.
Instructor Robert Yamashita also teaches Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) for youths and adults. You can learn the art that was made famous by the Gracie family and is used in mixed martial arts competitions like the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC). Jiu-Jitsu is a very technical, grappling martial art that even smaller people can use to overcome larger opponents. This makes it a good art for women and children to learn, but also appeals to men who want to learn the ground fighting and submission techniques that has become so popular in fighting events.
TKS also offers Kardio Kickboxing. During the Spring you will find Bikini Boot Camp in session. Other offerings include an after school program that includes pickup from your child's school and summer camp for the kids. The most recent addition to the school is the offering of therapeutic sports massage.
Individual program pricing is quite affordable and can be found on their website. They also offer discounts for additional family members and you can order your gi (uniform) there too.
