Who says that parties have to be filled with high calorie foods and just sitting around talking? Why not try something different with your friends and family and throw a fitness party. If you find that you have become bored with your exercise routine or you haven't seen your friends in months, you can now multi-task and have a fitness party for your friends. Here is how you can throw your own fitness party for you and your friends:
1. Plan the fitness party on a night that you know that several of your friends will be able to come. A Friday or Saturday night is a good option, as the kids don't have to go to school and the weekend is a great time for a party. Once you decide the date, send out quick invitations via email. This will save you time and since it is an informal party, your friends won't mind. On the invitations, you may want to explain what exactly will be happening at the party, so that the guests can dress appropriate and bring the appropriate items with them.
2. Keep with the theme of being healthy and plan a menu with light and healthy finger foods. If you are going to be doing exercises and "jumping around" no one is going to want heavy food in their stomachs. For the food, think about making things such as small sandwiches on whole wheat bread, a veggie tray with hummus, fresh fruit, smoothies, low-fat yogurt and bottled water.
3. Have a workout DVD swap. Have each guest at the party bring one or two workout DVDs that the may be tired of or think that someone else may like. Place all the DVDs in a box and let others either pick a DVD or do a drawing for them. This way, when people head home, they can have a new workout waiting for them the next day.
4. Supply fitness party favors. Cute ideas for party favors for a fitness party include sweatbands, water bottles, pocket fitness and nutrition guides, pedometers, and yoga mats.
5. To mix things up a little bit, hire a qualified instructor to teach a new workout to the party. Try different workouts that you may have not tried by yourself, such as belly dancing, hip hop dance or salsa dancing.
6. If you want things to get competitive, then offer prizes for fitness contests. See who can run the fastest or who can last the longest in a squat. Or you can have written quizzes on nutrition and different fitness questions. If you are going to continue the fitness parties as a regular thing, then these are fun to see how things can change after a couple of weeks.
7. If there is nice weather outside, plan the fitness party for outdoors. Plan it for the park where you can do a variety of different physical activities, such as roller balding, hiking, and even swimming. You can play like you are a kid again and burn calories at the same time.
So, why throw a calorie laden cocktail party for your friends, when you can run around and have fun like you are kid again and shed some weight in the process!
