Seven Tips to Having a Fabulous Fitness Party

With the various home parties that work at home businesses provide to the public, there is a new trend starting to appear. Fitness parties were created a long time ago, but they are starting to reappear on the party scene. So many people these days are seeking solutions for their health issues, and looking to get fit for an event of some type. However, fitness parties are also places of camaraderie and fun - to show others that they are not alone in their journey to health.

After doing fitness parties myself over the past two years, I can share a few tips on making your party as fabulous as possible:

Tip 1) Planning is key. You cannot realistically have people over for a fitness party unless you know when the party will be, the food you will serve, the type workouts you will do, and the favors you give at the end. Sit down, set a budget, and map these areas out. Remember, always have a plan B!

Tip 2) Send out cute invitations in the mail. I enjoy making my own invitations through my computer, but if you desire, you can go to a party shop for your invitations. You can always go online to Evite.com to send invitations via email, but having a card to open from the mailbox is such a nice personal touch. Make sure that the invitation goes with your healthy theme - either place photos of workout equipment, fruits and vegetables, or two people walking in fitness gear. Include date, time, place, and attire to get everyone prepared.

Tip 3) Serve healthy snacks. Over the past two years, I have prepared healthy breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks for fitness parties. Snacks are quick and easy to prepare. They also help those coming to the party to see that healthy snack options are readily available for them. One of my very favorites is making tropical fruit smoothies with protein powder. Pour a can of the tropical fruit salad (Dole or Del Monte) in a blender, add a scoop of protein powder, and blend with ice to thicken. It's tasty and healthy!

Tip 4) Share some important information with your group about health. Find some type of news article or important health tips to share at the party. Place the article or tips on colorful paper. You can either pass them out at the party to talk about, or you can wait until the end and provide as part of the party favors.

Tip 5) Do some type of exercise. It is, after all, a fitness party. Get the group up to walk around the block, or put in a fun dance video and start moving! It does not really matter what type of exercise you do as long as you are doing something. Have a contest on how many pushups you can do, or how many jumping jacks you can finish in 1 minute, or even trying out yoga. Make the exercise fun and have everyone to participate.

Tip 6) Do giveaways during the party and provide favors at the end. This is my favorite, because people always like receiving free stuff! Everything given away during the course of the party is part of the theme. I have done some fun giveaways during fitness parties, like videos, resistance bands, small medicine balls, and shake cups. Giving out party favors to each of the people reminds them of how much fun they had exercising that day. Some ideas to give include protein bars, granola, dried fruit snacks, bottled water, apples or oranges, recipe cards with healthy recipes, and even those soft exercise socks in cute bags or boxes.

Tip 7) Host another party at someone's house! Let others see how much fun exercise can be in the comfort of their own home. Carry the fun with you - bring the videos, snacks, and favors, and make it easier for the host or hostess. All they have to do is bring the people. Share the excitement of fitness everywhere you go.

Incorporate these tips, and make your fitness party fabulous!
