A few years ago I changed my fitness philosophy from traditional weight training and cardio to bodyweight conditioning, circuit training, and interval training. The shift came when I started doing martial arts and stopped playing basketball. I saw better results from doing push ups, squats, kicks, and isometric training than I ever saw from lifting weights alone. Participating in martial arts opened my eyes to a completely new way to get fit. I became obsessed with finding new routines and workout ideas. While searching on the Internet I came across Working Class Fitness. This site, run by Matt "Wiggy" Wiggins is dedicated to putting out quality workouts for everyone and not just athletes alone. I'm pretty skeptical about most workouts I find on line and will only buy one if I feel that it is in my best interest. After reading some of the free articles and browsing the site I felt that this "Wiggy" guy and I were on the same page in terms of fitness.
I ended up buying Wiggins' Working Class Fitness - The Programs for $39. I paid for the program via Paypal and a link was sent to my e-mail address so I could retrieve my 55 page e-book. To say that this manual looked tough would be an understatement. This manual looked intense and could literally keep you busy for an entire year with all it's workouts. How many programs do you see with a year's worth of workouts? To say the least, I was already impressed.
The Fitness Programs e-book consisted of 6 different programs. Each one consisted of a detailed 8 week workout with additional program notes to let you know what each exercise was. Program 1 is overall body strength, power, & conditioning. For the 2 months you participate in this program you will intermix three primary exercises with secondary dragging exercises and conditioning days. Whatever your fitness level you should probably start with this one because the workouts get tougher from here. Program 2 focuses on the lower body and increasing arm size. The key features are plyometric exercises and explosive movements. Program 3 is one you will want to save for late spring and summer as it puts you outside for a lot of the workouts. This program is all about dragging, lifting, and increasing your overall conditioning. You will be using sleds and sand bags to supplement your workouts. Program 4 includes a mixture of sprinting speed and increasing overall muscle size. You will need to make sure you have access to a track or another safe area to run. Program 5 is all about bodyweight exercises. It's time to work on muscle endurance. This is the first workout that has designated "hard" and "easy" days. If you've made it this far then you are on your way to becoming a beast. Program 6 is the mother of all programs. When you get through you will be a warrior. This program is called "man-handling your bodyweight". The notes at the end of the programs cover the conditioning days and how to make some of the training tools you need. No medicine ball, sand bags,or pulling sleds? No problem, because "Wiggy" gives you step by step information on how to make them.
If you're not sold on this program then I don't know what more to tell you. The only thing I can leave you with is "Wiggy's" website and tell you to visit it. Working Class Fitness will make you a better athlete so check it out at www.workingclassfitness.com.
